Ben, Roslyn and I have been discussing the visibility of the moons of Uranus. Checking a FOV indicator in Starry Night Pro Plus, it looks as though with a dark environment and dark adaption one might be able to see one or two moons at 120x.
Because of its notorious and awe-inspiring "two-face", Miranda earned spot #13 in Bob Berman's 50 Weirdest Objects in the Cosmos. The trajectory needed to send Voyager 2 from Uranus to Neptune took the spacecraft (in January 1986) within 30,000 kilometers of Miranda--thereby revealing to the human race possibly the most bizarre landscape in the Solar System. One popular idea (though not the only theory) is that Miranda was shattered and reformed.
