As usual, I'll attempt to adapt the Sky & Telescope predictions to Baton Rouge viewing times. The guidelines...
*The list is limited to times when Jupiter is at least 15 degrees above the horizon.
*The list is limited to times when Jupiter is on the dark side of civil twilight as provided by the U.S. Naval Observatory.
*Although S&T states the GRS is visible for 50 minutes before and after transit, I limit it to 45 minutes to be conservative. (In other words, a maximum viewing session of ninety minutes.)
*Given the above, only GRS viewing opportunities that are at least thirty minutes long are included.
January 2014
1 January = 1:40am to 3:10am / 9:31pm to 11:01pm
3 January = 3:18am to 4:48am / 11:54pm to 12:00am
4 January = 12:01am to 12:39am / 7:00pm to 8:30pm
5 January = 4:56am to 5:53am
6 January = 12:47am to 2:17am / 8:38pm to 10:08pm
8 January = 2:25am to 3:55am / 10:16pm to 11:46pm
9 January = 6:37pm to 7:37pm
10 January = 4:03am to 5:30am / 11:54pm to 11:59pm
11 January = 12:00am to 1:24am / 7:45pm to 9:15pm
13 January = 1:32am to 3:02am / 9:23pm to 10:53pm
14 January = 5:53pm to 6:44pm
15 January = 3:10am to 4:40am / 11:01pm to 12:00am
16 January = 12:01am to 12:31am / 6:52pm to 8:22pm
18 January = 12:39am to 2:09am / 8:30pm to 10:00pm
20 January = 2:17am to 3:47am / 10:09pm to 11:39pm
21 January = 6:00pm to 7:30pm
22 January = 3:55am to 4:37am
23 January = 11:47am to 1:17am / 7:38pm to 9:08pm
25 January = 1:25am to 2:55am / 9:16pm to 10:46pm
26 January = 6:02pm to 6:37pm
27 January = 3:03am to 4:15am / 10:54pm to 12:00am
28 January = 12:00am to 12:24am / 6:45pm to 8:15pm
30 January = 12:32am to 2:02am / 8:23pm to 9:53pm
The above times assume the GRS will be at Jovian System II longitude 206˚. Jupiter is in Gemini the entire month.
Note the transit times for the four Saturdays (4th, 11th, 18th, 25th). Weather permitting, the public will be able to view the GRS at HRPO for at least a half-hour on every Saturday in January.

28 February = 12:00am to 1:01am / 7:24pm to 8:54pm
The GRS is available this month on three Friday nights and two Saturday nights--not bad. The waxing gibbous Moon will be within six degrees of Jupiter the evening of the 10th. From the 17th through to the end of the month, Jupiter will be fewer than two degrees from magnitude 3, K-class double star Mebsuta.
