Volcanoes, both active and dormant, pepper various locations of our Solar System. Outlets for internal heat and material are present from the Earth to Mercury, Venus, Io and Titan...and some are monstrous!

BRAS Outreach Coordinator Trevor McGuire will present a brand-new HRPO lecture on volcanism in the Solar System on Friday, 31 January at 7:30pm.

Fresh lava, nasty light pollution and stars not seen from Baton Rouge. Diego Rizzo's picture from February caught Guatemala's Volcano of Fire in action. I wonder how far away he was.

The Science Academy session for 18 March will be "Layers of the Earth". It will run from 10am to 12pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. The cost is five dollars per in-parish child and six dollars per out-of-parish child. The children must be eight- to twelve-years-old.
