Uranus Viewing, 2018

Post by Christopher K. » May 10th, 2018, 5:52 pm

This year's opposition for Uranus will be on Tuesday 23 October. HRPO will be open on that night (with no lecture) from 8pm to 10pm CDT. All ages are invited. After several years, Uranus has a new home--the constellation Aries.

Uranus is currently clearing thirty degrees at 10:33pm CDT. The distant planet is right now 3˚44' northeast of the G-class mag 4.2 star Omicron Piscium, and 4˚35" northwest of the G-class mag 4.3 star Xi1 Ceti.

(Please keep in mind, as HRPO is open on a Tuesday for the Uranian Opposition, the facility will be closed that Friday the 26th.)

HRPO has acquired four copies of the QEB children's book "Uranus, Neptune and the Dwarf Planets" by Rosalind Mist. The book is twenty-four pages long and full-color. Any visitor can have one with a five dollar deposit into the Vortex.
