Moon-Neptune

The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Aquarius. The Full Moon will have Neptune shifting from its upper left to its upper right, the pair remaining fewer than two degrees apart the whole time. At 11:30pm the Moon will be forty-five degrees up, and fifty--one degrees up at 1:00am.

Moon-Venus

The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Virgo. The 27.3-day old Moon will have Venus directly underneath, the pair remaining fewer than seven degrees apart the whole time. At 6:47am Venus will be fifteen degrees up, and twenty-one degrees up at 7:17am.

Keep in mind this is a twilight conjunction. Also, Mars will actually be just two degrees to the right of the Moon, at magnitude 1.8. A binocular may reveal it. If you're lucky enough to see the magnitude 3.6 star one degree to the lower right of Mars, that's F-class Zavijava!

Moon-Neptune

The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Aquarius. The 10.3-day old Moon will have Neptune to its upper right, the pair remaining fewer than three-and-a-quarter degrees apart the whole time. At 7:45pm the Moon will be forty-three degrees up, and forty-nine degrees up at 8:45pm.

Keep in mind, a telescope will be needed to see Neptune.

Moon-Mercury-Saturn

The three will be setting together in the east (Mercury and the Moon in Ophiuchus, Saturn in Sagittarius). The 2.3 day-old Moon will have Saturn to its left and Mercury beneath it. At 5:10pm Mercury will be twelve degrees up, and three degrees up at 6:00pm.
Here are the separations...
Moon and Mercury, fewer than eight degrees the whole time
Moon and Saturn, fewer than two-and-three-quarters degrees the whole time
Mercury and Saturn, fewer than seven-and-one-quarter degrees the whole time
The Moon will be a waxing crescent, Mercury in a gibbous phase. Saturn is tilted in relation to Earth about as much as it can be, resulting in a very good access to the rings.

It is impossible to see this event without a clear western horizon. HRPO personnel will be at the Burbank Soccer Complex from 5pm to 6pm with equipment for anyone who wants to stop by and view. The equipment and personnel will be in the back of the Complex between the dog park and the lake.
