2020 Moon-Planet Conjunctions

LOOSE: Moon-Venus


The two will be setting together in the west, in the constellation Taurus. The 3.6-day-old Moon will have Mars to its lower right, the pair remaining fewer than seven degrees apart the whole time. At 7:21pm Venus will be forty-three degrees up, and thirty-six degrees up at 7:51pm.

TIGHT: Moon-Venus


The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Taurus. The 27.7-day-old Moon will have Venus to its upper right, the pair remaining fewer than two-and-a-half degrees apart the whole time. At 5:25am the Moon will be seven degrees up, and seventeen degrees up at 6:15am.

This conjunction will actually be an occultation for lucky New Englanders.

MODERATE: Moon-Jupiter


The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Sagittarius. The 13.2-day-old Moon will have Jupiter directly above it, the pair remaining fewer than three-and-a-half degrees apart the whole time. At 8:53pm the Moon will be twenty degrees up, and twenty-seven degrees up at 9:53pm.

The two will be rising together in the east, in the constellation Pisces. The 18.4-day-old Moon will have Mars directly above it, the pair remaining fewer than one degree apart the whole time. At 10:25pm the Moon will be ten degrees up, and twenty-nine degrees up at 11:55pm.
