2016 Eta Aquarid Meteor Shower

Post by Christopher K. » May 4th, 2016, 8:42 pm

The skies are Moon-free! Take advantage and look for some streaks.

Although the May Astronomy says this shower peaks tomorrow morning (after midnight tonight, remember), the American Meteor Society says it probably peaks Saturday morning; the best time to look will probably be 1am to 4am CDT. Expect ten to twenty streaks per hour if lucky.

Ms. Roz saw a bright Eta Aquarid from HRPO's front viewing pad last night--and at ~9:30pm! My back was to the event, so I was not a witness. The skies remain clear. Look tonight and tomorrow morning. If the skies remain clear until Sunday morning, continue looking!
