The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51)

This double object has separate New General Catalog designations for each component--NGC 5194 for the main spiral galaxy and NGC 5195 for its apparently-attached companion.

X-ray data from the NuSTAR mission seem to show a very dense neutron star (only nineteen kilometers across) emit high-energy x-rays. There are also other "green spots" in and very near M51--probably neutron stars as well.
