The first Light Pollution Committee meeting of the year is tonight at 6:15pm at the Highland Road Park Observatory. (All of them will be at HRPO unless otherwise stated.)

One point of discussion will be the streetlamps which will accompany the new Valhalla development near the Highland-Pecue intersection.

The Light Pollution Committee meeting this month has a special date and time due to the BRAS field trip to LIGO on Saturday the 15th replacing the monthly public BRAS meeting.

July's LPC meeting is on Wednesday the 12th from 5:45pm to 6:30pm. During this meeting, BRAS members will formulate the club's official stance concerning new or altered lighting if (1) the Baton Rouge Zoo moves to a different location and (2) the uses of Greenwood Park change.

The Light Pollution Committee members have voted to permanently change the date and time of the LPC meetings. Originally there were scheduled just before the BRAS public meetings on the second Mondays of the month. They will now be held from 5:45pm to 6:30pm on the Wednesday before the BRAS public meetings.

The next Light Pollution Committee meeting will be held on Wednesday 4 October from 5:45pm to 6:30pm. The public is invited to attend. The bulk of the agenda will focus on preparation for the inaugural Natural Sky Conference on Friday 17 November.
