I'm happy to say that plans for the tenth-annual Spooky Spectrum are coming along just fine. Tom, Amy, Emily, Jordan, Hayley, Justin, Roz, Taylor, Trey and I sincerely hope you and your family and friends visit us for at least a little while on Saturday evening. The only element of the Spectrum schedule not up yet is the activities list; that should be online before 12pm tomorrow.
Saturday night's operator is LSU physics professor Rob Hynes.
As this is the tenth consecutive year for this event, we decided to include never-before-seen elements...
*The Fire Snake
. The idea to incorporate this element into the Spooky Spectrum comes from BREC Program Aide Jordan Cobbs. When he's not interning at WAFB (he's going for meteorology) Jordan has some really clever ideas for HRPO. For obvious reasons, this demonstration will take place outside.
*New Campfire Stories
. One of the new stories will focus on the mysterious Tabby's Star. Coincidentally Dr. Tabetha Boyajian has just started working at LSU P&A; hopefully we can get her for a talk in February.
*Special Halloween Sale Items
. I know, HRPO is an observatory. However, the proceeds from the sales of these Halloween-specifics treats will go to HRPO's BREC Foundation account.
