Cassini's Grand Finale
Friday 15 September, 4:30am to 7:30am

It has highlighted our lives for over a decade—providing unprecedented images of the Saturnian system. It has been the source of inspiration and imagination for millions of Americans and other Earthlings. Now we say goodbye as it sacrifices itself to prevent any potential cross-contamination of microbial life. Join us for Cassini’s swan song. The venerable Deep Space Network will receive the final bittersweet transmission from the Cassini craft as it keeps its antenna pointed toward its home planet while plunging into the atmosphere of Saturn for a fiery demise. NASA’s live feed begins at 6am CDT; we’ll have skygazing until then. ATTENTION: All eight- to twelve-year-olds attending will acquire an extra green door prize ticket at the 16 September Science Academy session (16 September only!). Make sure you document your attendance with Ms. Amy.

This event has no admission fee and is for all ages. Binoculars are recommended for skygazing.
