After some serious debating with myself, I've removed the Java Moonphase and Jupiter moons programs from the Monthly Observing Information page. While there's nothing wrong with these programs themselves, Java itself is just getting to be too much of a safety concern. IE 10 and 11 Metro versions won't let you run it all, and Firefox turns it off by default. Having read about another Java exploit over the weekend, it looks all those people saying just don't use it all are right. So I've removed the need to have it from the site.

The Moonphase app shouldn't be missed too much, as there's still the calendar image showing the phase for each day of the month. The Jupiter moons app though, I haven't been able to find a replacement for. :(

The Forum has reached 2250 posts! Congratulations, Fred. It's probably the excitement about the (mostly failed) Camelopardalids that put the Forum over this last mark.

The Forum has reached 2500 posts! There was a lot to be mentioned about both eclipses, the Mars 2020 instrument selections, this year's DSRSG and Comet Siding-Spring.

Glenn Chaple points out on page 14 of this month's Astronomy that astronomy club membership yields a wealth of benefits, including social support for interest in skygazing and discounts on certain astronomy-related items.

The Forum has reached over 3000 posts! Here's hoping the next few weeks will be a boon for the Forum, with the New Horizons encounter less than a month away. Congratulations, Fred.
