Below is the NOAA forecast for HRPO's viewing time of 8:15pm to 9:45pm...

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "too cloudy to forecast" (0 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "good" (4 out of 5). This evening's 20OGS operator was to be BREC Program Aide Jordan Cobb. However, there will be no sky viewing.

Today is ARRL Field Day. The Baton Rouge Amateur Radio Club is nabbing section after section of the continent on a variety of different bands. Although the red light will not be switched on due to wet conditions, HRPO will be open until 10pm.

Iridium #98 is predicted to flare to magnitude -7.4 at 7:24pm. The presentation "Local Astrophotography" will take place at 7:30pm tonight.

An Atlas-Centaur 2 rocket is predicted to make a magnitude 1.9 pass beginning at 8:40pm. HRPO will remain open until 10pm.

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time both the transparency rating and the seeing rating will be "average" (3 out of 5). This afternoon's 20OGS operator is BREC Program Aide Jordan Cobb. The 20OGS will be in operation, though the dropout will not be lowered. The main target for this viewing period is the planet Mercury. HRPO will close at 6:45pm.

During this time HRPO will be accepted request to reserve solar viewers, which will become available on 21 July for the 21 August eclipse. Also, from 5pm to 6pm NASA-TV will rebroadcast "Every Day is Asteroid Day". Visitors can watch it during the viewing session.

The Soyuz MS-05 hatch opening will occur soon; NASA-TV will begin the live broadcast at 6pm CDT. This event can be seen at HRPO. The presentation "Great American Eclipse Preview" will take place at 7:30pm tonight.

This evening's 20OGS operator is BRAS member Peter Lazar. The 20OGS will be in operation though the dropout will remain up. The Iridium 25 satellite is predicted to flare to magnitude -4.5 at 8:55pm. at 9:02pm Europa will begin to transit across Jupiter. The Moon and Jupiter will be in a tight conjunction (fewer than three degrees apart). HRPO will close at 10pm.
