As though in celebration of the impending landing of the Curiosity Rover a few hours after, Mars forms a triangle on Sunday the 5th with Saturn and Spica. The display can be seen as the sky darkens. The triangle is visible for a few nights before the 5th, but Mars gets close enough to the other two on this night to make the triangle roughly equilateral. Look in the southwest about thirty to thirty-five degrees up; the best time is probably from 7:55pm to 8:40pm CDT. (By the way, the three will be in an almost-straight line on the 13th and 14th.)
