As is tradition, the Highland Road Park Observatory will be closed for the duration of the Hodges Gardens Star Party. This is because many who comprise those known as "HRPO personnel" will be partying! Well, they will be sharing views of a quite dark sky. I am asking that each of them take a GLOBE at Night measurement during the event.

HRPO will resume operations beginning with office hours of Monday 11 April.

The Hodges Gardens Star Party begins tomorrow night. Here are the brief NOAA forecasts for Florien...
Wednesday Night: mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear
Thursday Night: mostly clear
Friday Night: partly cloudy
Saturday Night: partly cloudy

Not too bad a forecast. A report on how the HGSP went will be presented at the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society meeting, 7pm Monday night at the Highland Road Park Observatory.

I hope to keep in touch with Roz, Karen, Ben and to hear a good report from Don concerning the HGSP. There is actually a daytime occultation of Aldebaran on Sunday, but probably most of the attendees will have left Hodges Gardens by then. Perhaps some of them can get the occultation from home....

(Please keep in mind that members of the general public may not go onto Highland Road Park Observatory property at night when there is no advertised public offering. Non-public nights are used for LSU classes, BRAS observations and BREC paperwork and maintenance.)
