This star cluster can be seen tonight at 9:30pm, about eighty degrees up in the southeast. The brighter components actually occupy a two-and-a-half-degree field-of-view and are easily spotted in skies with natural contrast.

Has it not received enough attention? Very well, then...HRPO's next viewing session (on 11 May) will have the Coma Berenices Cluster as a planned telescope target from 9:30pm to 11pm. It's a magnitude 1.8 object with the catalog designation Melotte 111.

This Cluster is a beautiful bonus, after everything that's taking place this evening (the greatest brilliancy of Venus', and the five visible passes). At 9pm CDT, look about sixty degrees up in the east (about twenty-five degrees directly above bright orange Arcturus). One should be able to spot the beautiful Coma Berenices Star Cluster. Those with a binocular should use it; the field of view will be filled with several A stars, a few Fs and a couple of Ks.
