Saturn and the Moon will be in a moderate conjunction tomorrow morning as they rise. Look beginning about 4:30am. Saturn itself should stay visible through twilight until about 6am. How long can you see it?

Having just moved from Sagittarius on 20 March, Saturn will remain in Capricornus for some time. For those with a telescope, Titan will be removed as far as possible from the Saturnian disk tomorrow and on about 24th. During this time Titan will brighten from 8.8 to 8.6.

Below are the times of selected mornings during which Saturn reaches twenty degrees altitude in the southeast...
Monday 11 May = 2:41am
During the 4am hour Monday morning, Saturn is stationary; it now heads back toward Sagittarius.
Thursday 14 May = 2:29am
Sunday 17 May = 2:18am
Wednesday 20 May = 2:06am
All times are Central Daylight.

During this time span Saturn can be seen in darkness for at least ninety minutes.

Tonight is this year's Saturnian Opposition. Below is the NOAA forecast for the event time of 9:45pm to 11:45pm...
precipitation potential, 1%
sky cover, 45%
relative humidity, 81%
temperature, 28˚C
heat index, 32˚C
surface wind, E 5 km/h

Danko's Clear Dark Sky states that during HRPO's viewing time the transparency rating will be "too cloudy to forecast" (0 out of 5) and the seeing rating will be "poor" (2 out of 5). The 20OGS is closed until the six-foot rule is abolished.

HRPO declines to give a Sky Rating due to disparate data. HRPO will close at 11:45pm.
