The Crater Plato

Post by Christopher K. »

Plato is a very distinctive crater on the Moon, filled with dark solidified lava. It can be seen with a binocular and in fact is one of the craters that can add to your score while pursuing the Moon Watcher's Certificate...

It lies in the northern hemisphere of the Moon, on the northeastern edge of the huge Mare Imbrium. You can see it quite clearly as a round dark dot with raised edges in the top part of this image... ... 22111b.jpg

Plato will be visible with the appropriate angle of sunight it gets tomorrow night from 9pm to 1am.
