Huge Envelope of Hot Gas Surrounds Milky Way and Satellites

Both the Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds are embedded inside a humongous cloud of gas with a temperature close to ten million Kelvin. Researchers focused on a handful of quasars and found their spectra showing hot gas absorption.
