Baton Rouge Astronomical Society Meetings

Telescope line

Due to a schedule conflict with LSU, we’ve had to change the BRAS meetings to the second Tuesday of each month for September, October, and November.

The next meeting of the Baton Rouge Astronomical Society is Monday, February 14th, beginning at 7:00 pm. This meeting will be held at HRPO as well as virtually at https://meet.jit.si/BRASMeet. It will also be livestreamed on our YouTube Channel. The public is invited to attend using whichever method you prefer.

We all know that winter nights are longer than summer nights, and many amateur astronomers know their winter constellations better than their summer ones. What if you have no summer constellations at all, though? In this talk, former BRAS member Trevor McGuire will present from Finland on some of the differences between amateur astronomy at the middle latitudes and at the high latitudes, including north of the arctic circle.
